The Gallery
First-View Gallery is situated on the National Trust Stourhead property but  is independently owned and operated by Jane Parfitt in premises that were formerly used as part of a shop, store and a kitchen for the Learning Centre. The Gallery is divided into three sections - Gallery 1 where the original pine trusses have been exposed and sensitively incorporated into the design then across a covered walkway into Gallery 2, a smaller space whith an extensive window display and where our framing selection is displayed, then through to the newest section - Gallery 3. This space can be combined with The Studio to make a larger exhibition area.
Gallery 1 Gallery 2 The pictures on the left are intended to give a feel for the Gallery. We are encouraged by the number of visitors who have made generous comments, particularly with regard to the ambiance as well as the quality and diverse range of work on show.
First-View regularly exhibits ceramics, sculptures and bronzes, together   with paintings from a wide mix of subjects, styles and techniques. All Art work is generally exhibited for a period of eight weeks. We welcome visitors who return on a regular basis to view new work.
Whilst the walls are quite tightly hung with pictures we encourage prospective purchasers to view any picture without the distraction of surrounding work.
Our policy is to remove the mystique that often surrounds Galleries. We welcome any questions, no matter how trivial.
In the summer the Courtyard is thriving with people relaxing with a drink or meal from the Spread Eagle Inn or eating a picnic. The Inn serves food throughout the the day as well as coffee, teas, Real Ales and evening meals. They may be contacted on 01747 840587 or by clicking this link - The Spread Eagle Inn
