Exciting West Country artist. Fiona Gordon-Abbey presents her 2007 solo show at First-View Gallery at National Trust Stourhead. Fiona describes herself as a compulsive, contemporary artist, she is totally self-taught and works from her studio in Somerset. Fiona began painting professionally in 2000 and has enjoyed continued and growing success. Reflective and vibrant seascapes have given way to a more liberated way of expression.
Fiona is well known for her textured seascapes in bold turquoise and sea-blues. More recently dramatic floral pieces including the ‘Poppies’ series produced in summer 2003 were well received and a sell-out. Her evocative paintings are worked in acrylic and often to a large scale. Her subjects are chosen according to her moods and environment – “Perhaps a kind of therapy and reaction to a world that has no time to listen. I paint from the sole and I am in a very good place at the moment. Colourful and joyful flora and forna truly reflects how I feel.”
Fiona will be showing 12 months of original work which has been inspired by the creeks on the Dart River in Devon and the stunning surroundings of Stourhead.
